A Data Quality-aware Cloud Service

Data Quality Monitoring (DQM) is the continuous process that evaluates a set of data to determine if they meet the planning objectives of a project. In practice, business managers may prefer to outsource the overall process of DQM, due to either operational or financial reasons. Nowadays, hardwareand service-level outsourcing is usually done by using cloud computing technologies. In this scenario, we introduce a Data Quality-aware Service (DQaS), which relies on Data Quality Service Level Agreements (DQSLAs) agreed between service consumers and a DQaS provider, in order to provide continuous monitoring of cloud databases. We investigate how to reduce costs in the DQaS context. For doing so, one of our goals is to propose and evaluate provisioning algorithms, which uses the advantage of a cloud infrastructure to perform dynamic allocation of computational resources and execute data quality algorithms in a distributed manner, to tackle strict DQSLA requirements and Big Data processing.
